About us

A swim club that caters to everyone

Head coaches Calvin and Clarence founded Swim Apex in 2001 — then C.C.A.C. Swim School — with just two classes. Today the club teaches across the GTA, from six-month-olds to national lifeguard candidates.

The story

From two classes to eight pools

Calvin and Clarence started with two classes and a reputation earned the hard way — strenuous teaching methods and excellent results. Those foundations let Swim Apex grow quickly as a swim school.

25 years on, the club has taught thousands of swimmers at every skill level, with operations across Markham, Thornhill, North York and Scarborough. Three things set it apart: the instructor team, a focus on proper technique, and the teaching environment.

What makes us different

Three defining strengths

01

Our instructor team

Every program is taught by an accredited Lifesaving Society or Red Cross aquatic instructor, many with ten or more years of teaching behind them. New instructors are carefully selected and mentored through a probationary period before they teach on their own.

02

Proper technique, from day one

Rather than drilling a single form for each stroke — boring and ineffective — swimmers learn technique from several perspectives at once. Instructors use that range to identify and correct weaknesses before bad habits set in.

03

A fun but safe environment

Everyone wants to have fun in the pool, and pool games are a real reward. Safety still comes first: every Swim Apex instructor holds lifesaving and first aid certification.

How we teach

Five ways into the same skill

Students learn at different speeds and respond to different methods. Instructors work through five approaches so every swimmer finds the one that lands.

  1. 01

    Individual focus

Students learn at different speeds and through different methods — teaching adapts to the swimmer.

  2. 02

    In-water demonstrations

Instructors get in and show the movement rather than describing it from the deck.

  3. 03

    Assisted manipulations

Physical guidance through the correct movement path, so the body learns the shape.

  4. 04

    Swimming drills

Isolated drills that break a stroke into parts a swimmer can actually practise.

  5. 05

    Multi-spectrum method

The four above, combined and varied, so every swimmer finds the angle that clicks.

Come see for yourself

Young or old, beginner or experienced

Whether you are learning for the first time, want to add a new stroke, or are looking to sharpen technique you already have — there is a Swim Apex program that fits.

Placement is based on a short assessment, not age alone. Tell us a little about your swimmer and we’ll find the right level.
